Angel du Soleil aims to help the families of Tamarin and Rivière Noire break out of the cycle of poverty by focusing on education, providing tailored support, and ensuring they have access to necessary resources and guidance.

Services offered
    • Education for children in precarious situations: Enrolment in French and English medium schools with Anges du Soleil covering school fees, transportation, and school supplies.
    • Close monitoring of the child's educational journey: Collaboration with schools to track progress and send reports.
    • Academic support: Individualised tutoring based on specific subjects.
    • Liaison between schools and parents: Anges du Soleil's presence at school meetings with parents.
    • Family support: Monitoring the family environment and providing referrals when needed.
    • Psychological and educational support:
      • Awareness sessions for children aged 3-14: Fun and educational workshops on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons.
      • Activities for children: Outings and activities during school holidays.
      • Sports and artistic workshops.
    • Material assistance: Emergency financial aid provided.

    Around twenty volunteers per year assist the two full-time employees and a part-time specialist in education.

    Beneficiaries: Approximately 250 families from Rivière Noire and Tamarin benefit directly and indirectly from the services of Anges du Soleil.

History

Anges du Soleil is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) founded in June 2014. The primary objective of the NGO is to contribute to building a better future for children and their families through comprehensive education. The initial projects focused on integrating children from their first year of preschool into French and English medium schools. The fundamental principles of the NGO are based on social diversity, cultural exchange, and the fight against discrimination.

Objectives

Offering children from vulnerable neighbourhoods and their families the opportunity to break the cycle of generational poverty.

Main achievements
  • School Enrolment: Over thirty children enrolled in French and English medium schools from preschool to promote social diversity and provide a real chance for them to thrive and realise their dreams.
  • Alternative School - L’Odyssée du Savoir: Founded in January 2018, this school follows the French curriculum with a mission to offer education centred on the needs and interests of the child to ensure their well-being and development. Anges du Soleil covers the tuition fees for certain children from Tamarin and Rivière Noire neighbourhoods.
  • Weekly Activities: Organising activities for at least twenty children every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoon, including beach outings, swimming, crafts, sports, and games.
  • Individual Support: Providing individual educational and psychological support for at least ten children.
  • Sports Activities: Regular sports practice once or twice a week for 50 children, including football, tennis, swimming, judo, kickboxing, karate, horse riding, gymnastics, and ballet.
  • Artistic Activities: Promote artistic activities such as theatre and classical Indian dance.
  • Yoga Sessions: Yoga sessions for about fifteen mothers.
  • Health and Wellness: Organising eye check-ups with ophthalmologists.
  • Special Initiatives:
    • Occasional introductions to various activities like kite surfing, tennis, hiking, paddleboarding, and sailing.
    • Workshops for mothers in mosaic art, sewing, and baking.
    • Monthly educational support meetings for families.
  • Cooperative ANSAM: Founded in October 2022, this cooperative aims to showcase products made and cooked by the mothers. More information can be found at https://ansamcoop.wixsite.com/website/boutique?page=8
