History

The Anou Grandi School was founded on January 14, 1999, by Rama and Gina Poonoosamy for their daughter Amsi.

 

To ensure the sustainability of the school's activities, the Anou Grandi Association was officially established in December 2000 with the involvement of seven dedicated members: Eddy Yeung, Selvam Madoorapen, Joel Toussaint, Isabelle Le Bon-Poonoosamy, Luc Le Bon, Rama, and Gina Poonoosamy.

 

Today, the association has expanded to include 150 members, continuing its mission to support children with special needs.

Objectives

We strive to provide quality education to children with developmental delays. Our mission is to offer love and hope, along with the best educational services to maximize each student's abilities, helping them become as independent as possible.

Main achievements
  • We have established a primary school and a class for young adults, offering literacy courses, mathematics, life skills programmes, and creative workshops.
  • We also provide support to families and have created a network for parents to build a strong community.

Number of Beneficiaries: 94 students and 188 parents. We also target families and neighbours of the children with special needs and the Mauritian society at large.
