History

The Association Pour les Handicapés De Malherbes is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in 2006 and officially registered with the Registry of Associations since August 2010. Accredited by the National CSR Committee, its accreditation number is N/1458. The association is dedicated to providing specialised education and care for children with disabilities through its specialised school and shelter.

Special Needs (SEN) School

Established in 2007, the Special Needs (SEN) School offers specialised education for children aged 5 to 25 with intellectual impairments, Cerebral Palsy, and related conditions. Many of these children have multiple disabilities and cannot benefit from mainstream education. To ensure individualized attention, the school maintains low teacher-student ratios. The curriculum is customized to meet the unique needs of each child, following a dual approach that includes both academic skills and skills for independent living.

For selected students aged 12 and above, the school provides pre-vocational training to prepare them for future sheltered or open employment, equipping them with the necessary skills for a more independent life.

Specialised Shelter

In 2013, the association established a specialised shelter for abandoned children, offering a safe and nurturing environment for children with various disabilities.

Objectives
  • Create a nurturing environment where children with severe disabilities, particularly those with mental impairments and cerebral palsy, can stay while their parents are at work.
  • Enhance Access to specialised education and therapeutic services more accessible for children with severe disabilities.
  • Facilitate the social integration of children with multiple disabilities within the community.
  • Support holistic development of children with multiple disabilities through tailored therapies and activities, including music, sports, art, drama, craftsmanship, outings, and cooking classes.
Main achievements
  • Setting up of a Day Activity Centre.
  • Setting up of a Sheltered vocational Workshop.
  • Setting up of a (SEN) Special Education School.
