CP Family
At CP Family, we are dedicated to raising awareness about Cerebral Palsy, creating a support network, and contributing to better care for individuals affected by this disability.
To achieve these goals, we organise various events throughout the year, including parent meetups in different locations where parents can meet and exchange experiences, in a safe environment.
Our awareness campaigns emphasise the messages "Changeons notre regard" and "Voyons la personne avant le handicap," as we believe that understanding Cerebral Palsy promotes better integration and acceptance.
Additionally, CP Family is committed to improving therapeutic care and access to necessary equipment for individuals suffering from Cerebral Palsy.
At CP Family, we offer a variety of programmes designed to support our community:
- A WhatsApp Group for supportive and compassionate exchanges.
- Regular gatherings for parents to share experiences and advice.
- Training Workshops.
- Awareness Campaigns to spread knowledge and understanding about Cerebral Palsy.
- Professional Directory for a comprehensive list of specialists and services.
- A rental service for specialised equipment tailored to individual needs.
Our beneficiaries include all individuals directly or indirectly affected by Cerebral Palsy.
CP Family began its mission in September 2021. Sarah, the president of the association, is herself the mother of a daughter with Cerebral Palsy. Over the years, she developed the desire to create a support system where families affected by this condition could find compassionate listening, understanding, and support that only those with similar experiences could provide. With the help of several therapists and friends, who are also parents of children with Cerebral Palsy, CP Family was launched.
- Bringing Families Together: We aim to create a space for dialogue, sharing, and support to improve the quality of life for families affected by Cerebral Palsy.
- Inform: We gather and provide all necessary information to ensure timely and appropriate care and optimal support for individuals with Cerebral Palsy and their loved ones.
- Raising Awareness: We work to raise awareness about Cerebral Palsy within Mauritian society, promoting better integration and greater respect for individuals affected by this condition.
- We also aim to provide financial or material assistance to families who cannot afford appropriate care and specialised equipment.
Our funding primarily comes from donations.
