History

Cypres Handicapped Association was founded in 1993 by Nicole Dercy. As a person with a disability herself, Nicole was driven by a desire to improve the quality of life for others in similar situations. Her vision and dedication have been the foundation upon which the association has grown, continually working to empower and support individuals with disabilities in Mauritius.

Main achievements

Cypres Handicapped Association has made significant strides in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities through a variety of initiatives:

  • Literacy courses to improve reading and writing skills.
  • Art and craft classes offering drawing, painting, sewing, and embroidery courses.
  • Woodworking workshops.
  • Rehabilitation exercises to aid physical rehabilitation and improve mobility.
  • Occupational therapy.
  • Listening service.

Recreational activities to engage members in activities such as poetry, slam, dance, and skits to foster creativity and enjoyment.
