Grace Centre Foundation
The primary objectives of Grace Centre Foundation (GCF) are focused on poverty alleviation and addressing social issues within the Mauritian community. GCF aims to assist in combating the various social ills affecting the community by implementing targeted programmes designed to improve the overall well-being and quality of life for individuals and families. To support these initiatives, GCF actively raises funds both locally and internationally, ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of its programmes in creating a positive impact.

The Haven is a "halfway house" open to young women aged 18 and above who have spent most of their lives in institutions such as shelters or correctional centres. This service provides a safe and supportive environment where each young woman can take the time to explore her potential, discover her abilities, and receive guidance towards making purposeful life choices.
Beneficiaries: The Haven specifically supports young women who are leaving institutional care at the age of 18 with no place to go. The facility can accommodate up to 20 young women at any given time, offering them the chance to transition smoothly into independent living.
Since 2004, Grace Centre Foundation (GCF) has been actively involved in various community projects aimed at supporting those in need. These initiatives include the distribution of groceries, clothes, and blankets to vulnerable individuals and families. GCF also organises an annual Christmas Fun Day for needy children across the island, providing them with joy and celebration during the festive season. Additionally, the foundation runs a literacy programme and has established a home for needy girls, offering them a safe and nurturing environment to grow and thrive. Through these efforts, GCF continues to make a significant positive impact on the Mauritian community.
The objectives for 'The Haven' are as follows:
- To provide a safe place for young women transitioning out of institutional care.
- To offer individual counselling and follow-up support to address personal needs and challenges.
- To facilitate appropriate training and apprenticeships to equip residents with practical skills.
- To create opportunities for permanent employment, aiming to achieve financial, emotional, and mental independence for each individual within 2-3 years.
As The Haven is a new project, it is difficult to talk of specific achievements at this stage. However, we look forward to the day when we can proudly witness young women who have become independent and self-reliant, able to hold their heads high and face any challenges that life may throw at them. Our goal is to empower these women to achieve financial, emotional, and mental independence, enabling them to lead fulfilling and dignified lives.
