History

Groupement Social de Souillac (GSS) has been active since April 12, 2000, founded by social workers in Souillac. A project for constructing a Socio-Educational Centre was developed and presented to the European Union through the organisation "A Nou Diboute Ensam."

In February 2001, the project was approved, and the centre was inaugurated on August 2, 2002, by His Excellency Mr. Juan Carlos Rey, Head of the European Union Delegation to Mauritius, and Mr. Sushil Kushiram, the then Minister of Planning and Economic Development.

To ensure the project's ongoing success, GSS established several commissions: Youth Commission, Women's Commission, Training Commission, Senior Citizens' Commission, and Finance Commission.
