The Mental Health Federation is a voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organisation established in 2002 and officially registered with the Registrar of Associations in October 2005. The federation comprises 18 member associations, each of which is autonomous yet shares the objectives and mission of the Mental Health Federation. These associations actively participate in the projects and activities organised by the federation, working together to support individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- To promote the welfare and enhance the well-being of individuals with mental illness.
- To safeguard the rights of mentally ill persons and their families, ensuring humane and dignified treatment.
- To organise educational and awareness programmes to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness.
- To organise social activities for the benefit of everyone involved.
- To undertake activities that support the attainment of these objectives, including fundraising initiatives.
- Successfully promoted the importance of positive mental health and worked towards eliminating the stigma attached to mental illnesses and impairments. This effort is an ongoing commitment.
- Highlighted and advocated for the critical need to prioritise mental health care, bringing it to a higher level of importance in society. The federation continues to push for improvements in mental health care.
