History
SAFIRE was formed in May 2006 by street educators as a continuation of the initiative started by the Ministry of Social Security in 2002.
Objectives
- To be a public utility NGO dedicated to the cause of children living on the streets.
- To provide care and support for street children.
- To raise public awareness about the issues faced by street children.
- To research and implement strategies for specialised social intervention.
Main achievements
- Integration of children into ANFEN centres
- Social support for 15 young individuals towards vocational training
- Awareness campaigns on drug use and HIV/AIDS for 200 children
- Social support for parents
- Production of a film about children living on the streets
