Upon our arrival in 2003, we began visiting families in our parish around Rivière des Anguilles, Batimarais, Camp Diable, and other vulnerable areas. Initially, we concentrated on assisting elderly people and individuals with disabilities, driven by Sister Maria's 18 years of experience working in a centre for disabled people in Belgium and her interest in supporting this vulnerable group in Mauritius.
Subsequently we identified a necessity for a dedicated space for our activities and we started searching for funds and an adequate location to establish a residential home care facility for persons with disabilities. In 2013, construction began, and it took five years to bring this project to fruition.
