History

Friends in Hope was founded in 1997, with the goal of supporting individuals suffering from psychiatric disorders and their families. In 2000, the association opened its Therapeutic Activity Centre (Centre d'Activités Thérapeutiques) to provide therapeutic activities aimed at promoting mental wellness and social integration. In 2005, they launched the media campaign "Sanz ou Regard… lor dimoune affecté par maladie mentale" to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Following this, in 2006, the Hopeway Centre for Learning and Work (Centre Hopeway - Apprentissage par le travail) was established to offer educational and vocational training, further enhancing their support services.

Objectives
  • To improve the knowledge and understanding of psychiatric disorders.
  • To support families and patients.
  • To contribute to the rehabilitation of patients, helping them achieve their highest level of autonomy.

To participate in improving the legislative, administrative, financial, and social frameworks that govern the rights of individuals with psychiatric disorders.

In 2007, Friends in Hope successfully collaborated with Médine Horizons and the EU-DCP to launch an awareness campaign across all regions of the island.
