The importance of teaching music to children who are experiencing difficult situations?

Music helps them develop brain capacities, cultivate a sense of discipline, rigor, and learn values... It provides them with a framework to grow healthily and helps nurture their talent. Moreover, music can open up many opportunities for them thanks to the discipline that comes with practice. And then, music widens horizons for them, makes them dream of a world they may not have considered before.

What is needed to teach music in a community context?

Working with young people in difficult situations involves going beyond teaching music – it is necessary to establish a framework that they may not have upon arrival – for this, one must be able to demonstrate authority.

The joys of doing this job:

  • Seeing the change in students in terms of attendance and witnessing progress in a child is a great source of satisfaction and pride.
  • We have the feeling of having brought something into someone's life, of having contributed to a positive change.
  • In the case of some young people from Mo'Zar, it is also incredible to see them reach an international level and join prestigious music schools around the world, such as the Berkly School of Music in Boston, United States.

Nowadays, young people have more opportunities to make it their profession. There is more support and more opportunities for them.
