“As we’ve worked with vulnerable communities, we’ve seen how art helps channel minds toward a positive atmosphere,” says Marie-Noëlle Ramdeen, President of the NGO. “This project, which is close to our hearts, primarily aims to provide a healthy recreational alternative for youth, instead of leaving them exposed to social issues,” she adds.
Additionally, the project aims to create a climate of kindness and respect, infused with color and music, in the neighborhoods where the NGO operates—Sainte Croix, Résidence La Cure, Petite Rivière, and Roche-Bois. Art is already an integral part of Future Hope’s educational program, which mainly involves academic support with a personalized approach for each child.
The practical sessions of the Future Hope Academy of Arts will be held at its main location in Sainte Croix. Planned activities include painting, music, dance, slam poetry, and a focus on recycling.
In the long term, Future Hope hopes to see a positive impact on its young beneficiaries in terms of emotional management, particularly anger, and socio-emotional development, which generally struggle to take a favorable turn for the targeted children, who are often collateral victims of family and societal issues.
Qualified arts professionals will be engaged to ensure the project's success, with the goal of evolving it in a structured and organized manner.
