In essence, the CDS aims to further professionalize its procedures, thereby strengthening both its internal and external structure; to become more attuned to field realities and their changes; and to guide beneficiaries in the therapeutic program towards independence in housing and employability.

Since last year, bolstered by this strategic repositioning and reflection on field realities, the team has launched an extensive community engagement program. The goal is to decentralize some of its services—specifically, support and guidance for individuals with dependencies and their families, as well as referrals—directly into the neighborhoods most affected.

This community liaison project began with a campaign from June to October last year. It includes:

  • (i) Understanding Neighborhoods and Their Specifics

By getting closer to neighborhoods, the CDS aims to better identify and respond to the needs of its target populations, thus providing more appropriate care. Instead of waiting for individuals in need to come to the Center, the Center is going to them.

  • (ii) Disseminating Accurate Information on Drug Issues, Including Alcohol

This objective aligns with efforts to reduce the stigma surrounding addiction issues, encouraging individuals to seek out support actors such as treatment centers, detoxification programs, and socio-professional rehabilitation.

  • (iii) Creating a National Network of Ambassadors

This aspect aims to build strong groups of community actors who can positively influence their respective communities. These groups will include volunteers, family members, youth, or other community members concerned with drug dependency issues.

The CDS team will train these groups in personal development and active listening techniques so they can act as ground-level relays for the CDS.

Additionally, the active participation of family members of those with dependencies will be encouraged under this component. Custom workshops will be specifically designed for them to gain a better understanding of addiction and manage situations at home.
