Communication Coordinator

Summary of the Position (key duties and responsibilities)

The Communication Coordinator is responsible for proactively developing and leading the implementation of the SOS Children’s Villages Mauritius communications strategies to promote the organisation’s vision and mission as well as to ensure visibility.

The Communication Coordinator will play a crucial role in regard to all communication and visibility actions, as well as provide high quality, communications materials and ensure effective dissemination through various channels.

Duties:

• Position SOS Children’s Villages as a strong partner among potential and existing supporters based on SOS Children’s Villages roots, vision, mission and values.
• Develop an external communications strategy to promote the organisation and ensure visibility.
• Write engaging content for both print and Web including newsletter, website, brochures, social media, press release, etc.
• Create and produce high-quality multimedia content, like photos, videos and podcasts, to support stories.
• Design visual text, illustrations, brochures, newsletter, and other promotional and marketing materials that meet the organisation’s brand identity.
• Ensure the organisation has a coherent and consistent brand image in the country aligned to the global guidelines and principles.
• Support Fundraising activities by promoting fundraising campaigns, events and activities and ensure effective dissemination through various channels.
• Proactively facilitate media coverage of the organisations’ achievements, advocacy, events and development programmes.
• Conduct interviews, attend activities, write and assemble news stories that will keep audience abreast of events/activities at SOS Children’s Villages.
• Support and advise programme staff to develop stories, create content like events, news related to pedagogy to feed donors (e.g. case studies, portrays, slice of life events).
• Participate in website content management and social media to ensure they are updated.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field.
• 2 years of experience in communication and multimedia.
• Skills in photography and video making.
• Availability and willingness to work at odd hours and on a flexible time basis.
