Opportunity to work on Ile aux Aigrettes with a variety of Fauna and Flora projects, gaining hands-on experience and knowledge in the field of Conservation and Ecotourism.
The work is multidisciplinary with fauna, flora, and Ecotours. Collaborating with a dynamic Field team from various backgrounds Practical and theoretical training in species conservation. Paid internship with appropriate work tools and equipment.
Main responsibilities:
- Monitor bird movements and behaviours contributing to scientific research.
- Identify individuals with leg rings, developing skills in bird identification and ringing techniques.
- Provide supplementary food to our endemic birds. Conduct nursery work, working with and learning about different plant species.
- Collect plant materials and propagate using various techniques contributing to habitat restoration efforts.
- Control invasive plant species to maintain healthy ecosystems.
- Learn about guided tours, how to interact with visitors, sharing knowledge and enthusiasm for birds and plants.
- Contribute to collection and analysis of data related to bird populations, plant growth, and habitat restoration efforts.
Requirements:
- Mauritian.
- At least 18 years old. Lives in Grand Port will be a significant advantage.
- SC as Minimum qualification with experience: HSC is preferred.
- Experience / proven interest as a nature lover.
- Can work outdoors in all conditions.
- Physically active.
- Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Good time management.
- Good observation skills.

- Equipment provided: 3 shirts, 2 pairs of trousers, 1 pair of boots, 1 hat and 1 raingear
