T1 Diams, a renowned NGO supporting individuals with Type 1 diabetes in Mauritius and Rodrigues Island, seeks a dynamic Trainee Diabetes Educator for a full-time position.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate will provide assistance via phone, face-to-face, and e-communication to potential/current members and the public about Type 1 diabetes, T1 Diams' objectives, and services.
Responsibilities include offering bio-psychosocial support, identifying additional support sources, and scheduling medical appointments.
The role entails educating on insulin therapy, delivering presentations, and representing T1 Diams at awareness events.
Profile of Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate should have a people-oriented approach, excellent communication, analytic, and listening skills, with respect, empathy, and discretion.
Proactivity, self-direction, adaptability to various environments, and fluency in Creole, French, and English are crucial. Willingness to work weekends and after office hours, collaborative teamwork, understanding of NGO dynamics, and commitment to NGO activities are essential.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a science-related degree, Nutrition, or a nursing diploma from a recognized institution, with a minimum of 2 years of similar post experience. Knowledge in Type 1 Diabetes is advantageous.
Proficiency in Email, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is expected.
