JDVU is a therapy Center that provides therapeutic services including occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, psycho-motor therapy, clinical psychology in a multi sensory environment on a one-to-one basis to children having with a mental impairment.
We also manage a center open to elderly people with dementia, Alzheimer and other mental deficiencies.

Academic program
The educational aspect is assured by specialised educators according to the needs of the child and that of the family.
Paramedical services
JDVU proposes different therapies for the therapeutic management of the children. The main therapies being provided are:
1) Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps and promotes independence and autonomy for a fulfilling life. It uses specific techniques and approaches to work on client-centred goals. It helps in gross motor skills, fine motor skills, Activities of Daily Living (dressing, eating etc), sensory problems, academic skills, pre-vocational and vocational skills, life skill training and play skills.
2) Speech and Language Therapy
Speech Therapy deals with children who have speech and language delay, swallowing difficulty , articulation and phonological disorder, drooling.
3) Psycho-motor Therapy
It helps children having problems in body scheme, spatial orientation and organization, difficulties to attend to and concentrate at tasks.
Other Services:
To support the existing therapeutic team, foreign experts in different fields, nonexistent in Mauritius, (Neuro-pediatricians, child psychiatrists) will be called in.
We have already introduced new therapies such as :
1. Multisensory therapy based on the SNOZELEN concept
2. TEEACH method (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children).
3. ABA method (Applied Behavioural Analysis)
4. Sensory Integration techniques
4. In the near future we wish to introduce HANDLE (Holistic Approach to Neuro development Learning Efficiency) method.
The NGO Joie de Vivre Universelle, founded in December 2008, aims at providing individual therapies for children and seniors having a mental impairment (Autism ,Down Syndrome ,Alzheimer ,Parkinson) as well as to train primary caregivers.
