We-Recycle

Environnement et développement durable

We-Recycle was founded as an NGO in December 2016 with the mission to educate, to collect for recycling and to help shape policies, legislation and recycling programs that will help keep Mauritius clean and green.

We remove recyclable plastics (PET, HDPE, LDPE and PP) and aluminium cans from the solid waste stream so that less waste ends up in landfill and ultimately the ocean, resulting in a cleaner environment with less unsightly and unhealthy litter strewn around the island.

We-Recycle believes passionately in teamwork. This belief is reflected in the way we work collaboratively with Government, Local Authorities, Private Sector, Youth and Community Groups to achieve our mission and make a difference.

WASTE COLLECTION FOR RECYCLING

Our trucks collect PET, cans and other types of plastics daily from public and private eco-bins in Black River and Savanne, and some dedicated places in Plaines Wilhems. PET bottles are picked up by our service provider while cans and other plastics are delivered by our NGO to service providers for recycling.

LEARNING WORKSHOPS

Our signature learning program is delivered to companies and schools upon request. We provide education on the different types of plastics that can be collected for recycling in Mauritius, the dangers of plastic pollution and the important of waste sorting and recycling.

ADVOCACY

Our NGO regularly reaches out to the general public to sensitize on plastic pollution and the need for recycling, through awareness campaigns, collection campaigns and beach clean-ups, which are carried out in collaboration with companies, local authorities and other NGOs.
