Brief of your job:

  • Examine patients, take patient history, order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments.
  • Provide sexual risk-reduction counselling and treat sexually transmitted infections (STIs). 
  • Profiling and prevention approach to potential Prep Candidates,
  • Offer community-based sexual and reproductive healthcare services. 
  • Assist in and perform primary care surgery. 
  • Manage emergency and acute care situations. 
  • Build strong rapport with patient to enhance trust and communication.
  • Advise patients and families on healthcare, including HIV prevention and health promotion,
  • Provide counselling and support on a range of health and lifestyle issues. 
  • Coordinate and manage primary patient care. 
  • Provide continuous care and monitor patient progress. 
  • Liaise with Medical Coordinators to ensure effective care delivery. 
  • Refer specific cases to external specialists/ department as necessary.
  • Collaborate with partners such as NGOs, Ministry of Health, and other healthcare institutions
  • Teamwork

Monitoring, and Evaluation: 

  • Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and external specialists as part of a multidisciplinary team. 
  • Report monthly statistics on patient care and outcomes. 
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required for professional development.
  • Actively engage in PILS activities and projects to contribute to the program's objectives and success.

Qualifications:

  • MBBS or MD degree, registered with the Medical Council of Mauritius.
  • Experience or qualifications in HIV/AIDS care is desirable. 
  • Strong network within the infectious disease community. 
  • Ability to apply and leverage scientific and medical knowledge effectively. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience. 
  • Excellent communication and diagnostic skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
